AEOsrc is for anyone who wants to understand Answer Engine Optimization, usually shortened to AEO.

AEO is still a relatively new and quickly evolving field. Search is moving beyond lists of links toward AI-generated answers, summaries, recommendations, and research. AEOsrc explains how those systems find information, evaluate sources, generate responses, and decide which websites to reference.

The goal is to make AEO easier to understand without reducing it to vague advice, unsupported tactics, or promises about “ranking in AI.” Whether you work in design, marketing, content, development, research, or simply want to understand how online discovery is changing, AEOsrc is designed to help you build a practical foundation.

Who created AEOsrc?

AEOsrc was created by a Michigan-based product designer with 20 years of experience designing and building digital products.

Product design often involves taking complicated systems and making them easier for people to understand and use. AEOsrc applies that same approach to answer engines, information retrieval, AI search, and the growing collection of practices described as Answer Engine Optimization.

The long-term aim is for AEOsrc to become a dependable, regularly updated resource for all things AEO.

How the content is researched

Whenever possible, AEOsrc relies on primary sources. Articles are researched using official documentation from the companies and organizations responsible for the systems being discussed. Depending on the subject, this may include documentation, research, and product guidance from OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, Microsoft, Perplexity, Schema.org, the W3C, and academic researchers.

Secondary sources may occasionally provide useful context, but important claims should be supported by original documentation whenever it is available.

Because many answer-engine ranking, retrieval, and source-selection systems are proprietary, not every recommendation can be treated as a confirmed ranking factor. Articles aim to distinguish among publicly documented platform behavior, established information-retrieval principles, practical interpretation based on available evidence, and tactics that remain experimental or unproven.

AEOsrc does not claim access to private ranking systems or undisclosed platform data.

How AI is used

AEOsrc is created primarily with the assistance of AI, which feels appropriate for a website about how AI systems find, interpret, and present information.

AI is used to support research, organize information, compare documentation, develop explanations, and draft content. The site’s structure, editorial direction, source selection, design, and final decisions are guided and reviewed by a human product designer.

Using AI does not remove the need for judgment or verification. In fact, it makes transparent sourcing especially important. That is why articles include the specific documentation and research used to prepare them.

Corrections and updates

AEO changes quickly. Platforms release new features, revise documentation, rename products, and change how search and citations work.

Content is updated when information is found to be outdated, incomplete, or inaccurate. Articles covering changing products and platform behavior may also include a review date so readers can evaluate how current the information is.
